Nestled alongside the River Tees, Preston Hall, a former Georgian gentleman’s residence and once home to local industrial magnate Robert Ropner, houses a vast collection of artefacts which tell the story of Stockton-On-Tees.

Stepping through the Victorian portico you can discover more about the families who lived here and their role in shaping Stockton’s history. Admire the museum’s beautiful collections, explore the history of the mighty River Tees and engage with our volunteers as they go about their day in the replica Victorian street. Step over our clock, ticking backwards, to emerge into the world of 1895 – why not take afternoon tea and sample some sweets and cakes from times gone by?

Whether you’d like a stroll in the Quarry Wood Nature Reserve, fancy a wander around the Victorian walled kitchen garden, or feel like letting off steam at their adventure play area – there’s something for everyone!
